What is Celer Network (CELR)?
Celer Network is a layer-2 protocol for blockchain interoperability, and CELR is its native token. Celer Network allows developers to build inter-chain native dApps with efficient liquidity utilization and simplified single transaction UX. It exists as smart contracts on top of other blockchains and uses a unique off-chain scaling approach for gaining higher scalability. Under this approach, the Celer network uses two core Smart contract mechanisms- Proof of Liquidity Commitment (PoLC) and Liquidity Backing Auction (LiBA).
PoLC is a mechanism where crypto holders get rewards in CELR tokens for locking their idle liquidity (tokens) in the PoLC contract. On the other hand, LiBA works by obtaining liquidity through crowdlending. Its participants borrow on-chain liquidity to secure the off-chain network and pay interest.
In the DPoS consensus of Celer Network, CELR token holders can delegate their CELR tokens to the network validators for indirect participation in consensus. They get more CELR rewards according to their delegated share of CELR tokens. Moreover, the owners of CELR tokens also get a share of network fees that the Celer network collects through its services. The maximum supply of CELR tokens is 10 billion.
